Born Naveen Kumar Gowda in Bojjhenahalli village, Hassan, Karnataka, Yash's father drove buses for KSRTC while his mother managed their household. Against his family's wishes, the young dreamer moved to Bengaluru to pursue acting — working in theatre troupe Benaka before landing TV roles.

His debut serial Nanda Gokula on ETV Kannada was a massive hit — and it's also where he met his future wife, actress Radhika Pandit, whom he married in December 2016. They have two children: daughter Ayra and son Ayush.

After a string of Sandalwood blockbusters, Yash's portrayal of Rocky in the KGF franchise transformed him into a Pan-India superstar — a household name from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
